Our Story
We are a philanthropic, non-profit organization registered under the 501(c)(3) classification and governed by the tax laws of Puerto Rico. Since our founding in April 2005 in Canóvanas, PR, we have been firmly committed to creating meaningful change in family dynamics, fostering the holistic transformation of everyone, and promoting a culture of peace, respect, and healthy coexistence in Puerto Rican homes.
Additionally, we aim to contribute to the overall well-being of our community by promoting the physical, emotional, and mental health of our people.
Forjadores de Esperanza Foundation was born from the dream of three men of faith: Rev. Jacinto Esquilín Robles, Dr. Abelardo Vargas Rivera, and Mr. José Luis de León Vázquez. These visionaries were deeply committed to transforming lives and sowing hope within the families of Canóvanas and across Puerto Rico.
Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has provided psychological counseling and guidance services to children, youth, and adults, addressing a wide range of emotional and family-related needs. We also established an educational center focused on enhancing the academic skills of elementary school students. Thanks to generous donations, we launched a food distribution center for low-income families.
After Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico in September 2017, we offered medical services and distributed medications to the most affected communities. Likewise, we delivered food and medical supplies to families impacted by the earthquakes in southern Puerto Rico.
As part of our commitment to family unity, we have organized and participated in various community sports events, such as 5K races, promoting health and community engagement.
Our Services
Currently, Forjadores de Esperanza Foundation is developing a program aimed at strengthening and supporting caregivers and families of Alzheimer’s patients. Through workshops and forums, we provide practical tools to assist in daily care.
In line with our commitment to families and communities, we are organizing a new 5K race for 2026 to continue promoting family unity.
We are also supporting a review program for high school seniors preparing for the College Board exam, helping facilitate their access to higher education.
Educational Partnership with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
Over the past ____ months, Forjadores de Esperanza Foundation, in collaboration with AMEC Church, has established an educational partnership with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, based in Boston, MA. This initiative is the result of a collaborative agreement to manage scholarships funded by donations. These scholarships will be awarded to students who qualify and demonstrate financial need to complete their theological studies.
